Passport & Visa Requirements

All foreigners require a visa to enter Nepal, except Indian nationals. You can obtain it from a Nepalese embassy overseas or on arrival in Kathmandu. Most travelers obtain their visa upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport.

Trip Meal Plan

Meals are an essential part of your journey. Travelers will enjoy:

Traditional Nepalese meals like Dal Bhat (rice and lentils)
Local and international dishes: vegetables, noodles, pizza, pasta, French fries
Breakfast and dinner at teahouses/lodges, lunch at trailside restaurants

Trip Accommodation

Kathmandu: 4-star hotels
Mountain trails: Standard teahouses with private/twin rooms, basic facilities, shared bathrooms, and running water
Dining rooms are cozy and often heated; electricity is available for small appliances (sometimes at a nominal fee)
Recommended: Carry wet wipes and small essentials for convenience

Altitude & Acclimatization

Altitude: Height above sea level; higher altitudes have lower air pressure and oxygen levels
Acclimatization: Gradual ascent over several days reduces risk of altitude sickness
Symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS): Headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia
Treatment: Rest, hydration, medication (Ibuprofen, Diamox™), oxygen if necessary, or descent to a lower altitude

Health & Safety

Vaccinations recommended: Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A
Major emergencies: Nepal may experience earthquakes, landslides, floods; carry a first aid kit
