Flights to Lukla, the entry point of the Everest region, are made by Kathmandu Airport or Manthali (Ramechhap) Airport according to the season. Flights can also be made to go around Kathmandu during peak trekking seasons (October- November and March-May) to avoid overcrowding at the airport. It is a flight of around 30 minutes which offers magnificent views of the Himalayan range of mountains, including Everest, from the air. The weather in the area is not predictable and may lead to delays or cancellations, and as such, it is very wise to add an extra day in your itinerary to allow for any form of delays due to flight.
An excellent trek requires proper packaging to be comfortable and successful. Suggested clothing can be moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers such as fleece jackets or down jackets, waterproof jackets and pants, trekking pants, t-shirts, thermal underwear, warm hats, gloves, and well-broken-in trekking boots. Such items as trekking poles, headlamp, daypack (2030 liters), a sleeping bag with -10 C -15 C range, reusable water bottles or hydration system, sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses are essential. The other requirements include personal first aid kits, a passport, travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking, as well as camera equipment.
Porters will be critical in ensuring that your Everest View Trek is comfortable. The amount of luggage per trekker that is carried per porter is usually up to 15 kg, including the main duffel bag supplied by the trekking company. The trekkers carry a daypack (approximately 20-30 liters) of the necessities, which include water, snacks, a camera, additional layers, and personal belongings required during the day. The use of a porter is strongly advised, particularly when a beginner or one who likes to hike lightweight has been hired. Porters are also trained, insured
and in many cases are accustomed to the local trails and teahouses, and this contributes both to the safety and convenience.
Hotel Everest View is situated at an altitude of 3,880 meters (12,730 feet), and this is one of the highest luxury hotels in the world. This hotel has panoramic views of the Mountains Everest, and others in the Himalayas. It is reachable through a picturesque hike to Namche Bazaar, and it offers a priceless luxury to experience the Himalayas. Trekking tourists spend the night here and have a blend of comfort and breathtaking views.
The accommodation is done in the best available guesthouses and teahouses along the route on a twin-sharing basis. In Mountain Lodges of Nepal, the luxury lodge can be upgraded in Monjo, Namche Bazaar, and Lukla with private bathrooms, hot showers, comfortable beds, and gourmet meals. These lodges are meant to add comfort to the trekkers who would want to have a high-end experience in an isolated area.
Trekking before and after the trek, the trekkers remain in the best hotels in Kathmandu. The choices can be 4-star hotels such as Hotel Mulberry or Hotel Barahi Kathmandu, 5-star hotels such as Kathmandu Marriott or high-end heritage hotels such as Hotel Dwarika. They have the luxury of current facilities, in-room amenities and good service, and therefore you can relax before and after your high-altitude trek.
A number of permits are required to hike in the Everest area:
These permits are normally made through your trekking company, making the process of trekkers simple.
This is a trail that can be fairly safe for both the amateur and the advanced trekker. The trek is led by experienced professionals who are licensed, and the trails are well-marked such with there are schedules of acclimatisation to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. There are insured porters, medical kits with guides and the trekkers are advised to stay hydrated, to pace themselves and to have expert advice during the entire trek.
The trek does not have the highest point of 3,880 meters, but the occurrence of altitude sickness (AMS) remains a possibility. The preventive measures are:
In teahouses and lodges, meals contain local Nepali food such as dal bhat, momos, soups, noodles and vegetables, and international food such as pasta and pizza. Breakfasts are characterized by eggs, pancakes, porridge, and toast. Vegetarian diets are strongly encouraged and special diets can be taken by prior request. Most of the stops offer snacks such as energy bars and biscuits.
This is because the Everest View Trek is an appropriate trek to do with beginners because of its moderate altitude levels, small pillars in trekking, and acclimatization days. The path is designed in such a way that the trekkers can have a spectacular view without necessarily getting out of shape. To have a comfortable and safe experience of trekking, one hires a guide and a porter.
Begin training 2-3 months before and concentrate on cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility. There are hiking, climbing stairs, running, cycling, squats, lunges, and loading a daypack to imitate the conditions of trekking. Yoga and stretching will ensure that there are no injuries or reduced mobility.
The hike is moderate and there are up-hills and down-hills each day. The top altitude is Hotel Everest View (3,880 m) and is not that difficult with the right acclimatization and physical conditioning.
The Lukla flights permit 15 kg per head, usually with 10 kg being allocated to the main duffel bag (carried by porters) and 5 kg to the daypack. Porters also ensure that trekking is made comfortable as they carry heavier weights, and the trekking party can concentrate on the expedition without straining.
The internet is also provided at larger villages such as Namche Bazaar, with most teahouses and lodges offering internet at USD 2-5/hour. The higher the altitude, the lower the connectivity. Access is reliable due to a local SIM card or power bank.
